What does learning to learn actually mean?

Learning to learn means acquiring certain skills that enable a pupil to acquire subject knowledge independently, i.e., in the long term, even without a teacher. This is to prepare pupils for lifelong learning, which is an important basis for successful education and vocational qualification. One principle is that the introduction of methods and working techniques is linked to the current learning material of the respective subject, i.e. it is integrated into subject-specific learning and can therefore be described as subject-accompanying learning. Learning to learn therefore takes place in daily subject lessons.
