Useful exercises for short-term memory

    Write your shopping list and leave it at home. Try to remember what was on it when you go shopping. You can also take it with you and leave it in your bag for emergencies.

    Stop for a minute while you are working and try to remember what colour socks you are wearing today. Alternatively, think about what you ate yesterday.

    Read a long report from a daily newspaper and try to retell it in your own words.

    Write down the telephone numbers of three people and try to remember them within fifteen minutes.
